🔥 FUEL FOR A HOLY FIRE

The Heart God Can Lead

Psalm 25:9–11

“He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness… For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great.”
— Psalm 25:9–11

Sometimes we ask God for direction while still gripping the steering wheel.

“Lord, show me what to do.”

But underneath that prayer can quietly be:

Show me what to do—as long as it looks like what I already had in mind.

Psalm 25 gives us a different posture.

“He leads the humble.”

The Hebrew word translated humble is anav (עָנָו). It carries the idea of being humble, meek, lowly, and yielded.

This isn’t weakness.

It is the heart that says:

“Lord, You know better than I do.
Your way is better than mine.
Teach me. Correct me. Lead me.”

And that’s the kind of heart God can guide.

🔥 F — FOCUS YOUR EYES ON JESUS

Before you focus on finding the right path, focus on the One leading you.

We can become so consumed with asking:

What should I do?
Which direction should I go?
What happens next?
What if I make the wrong decision?

that we spend more time staring at the crossroads than looking at Jesus.

But Jesus didn’t simply promise to show us the way.

He said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6

Sometimes God doesn’t give us the entire map.

He gives us Himself.

And following Jesus one obedient step at a time is enough.

🔥 U — UNLOAD YOUR BURDENS TO HIM

David ends this section with an incredibly vulnerable prayer:

“Pardon my guilt, for it is great.”

David doesn’t minimize his sin.

He doesn’t defend it.

He doesn’t rename it.

He brings it into the presence of God.

There is something freeing about being completely honest before the Lord.

You don’t have to hide what He already sees.

Unload the guilt.

Unload the regret.

Unload the decisions you wish you could redo.

Unload the fear that you’ve messed things up beyond repair.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins…” — 1 John 1:9

Your failure does not exceed His mercy.

David essentially says:

My guilt is great, but Your name is greater.

And because of Jesus, we know just how great that grace really is.

🔥 E — ENCOUNTER JESUS DAILY

Psalm 25:10 says:

“All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness.”

The Hebrew words here are beautiful.

Hesed (חֶסֶד) — steadfast, covenant, faithful love.

Emet (אֱמֶת) — truth, firmness, faithfulness, reliability.

Notice what David says:

ALL the paths of the Lord.

Not only the easy paths.

Not only the paths where prayers are answered quickly.

Not only the paths that make sense.

Even the waiting path.

Even the pruning path.

Even the wilderness path.

Even the path where God closes a door you desperately wanted open.

Even the path where obedience costs you something.

If God is leading you, His hesed and emet are underneath your feet.

His love has not disappeared because the road became difficult.

His faithfulness has not changed because you cannot see where you’re going.

Encounter Him every day until you become more convinced of His character than your circumstances.

🔥 L — LIVE ON FIRE FOR THE LORD

A surrendered heart doesn’t only ask God for direction.

It follows when He gives it.

James 1:22 says:

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

There comes a moment when prayer becomes obedience.

When “Lord, show me” becomes:

“Yes, Lord.”

Even when it’s uncomfortable.

Even when you don’t understand.

Even when you’d choose another road.

A life on fire for Jesus isn’t merely emotional passion.

It’s a life laid on the altar saying:

“Where You lead, I will follow.”

🔥 FUEL CHECK

Maybe you’ve been asking:

“God, which way should I go?”

But perhaps there’s another prayer He wants to form in you first:

“Lord, make my heart humble enough to follow wherever You lead.”

You don’t need the whole map today.

You need the next obedient step.

Because Psalm 25 gives us something better than a promise of an easy road:

It gives us confidence in the One leading us.

His paths are marked by steadfast love and faithfulness.

So loosen your grip on the steering wheel.

Lay down the need to understand everything.

Bring Him your sin, your fear, your questions, and your plans.

Then pray:

Teach me Your way, Jesus.
Make me humble enough to hear You,
brave enough to obey You,
and surrendered enough to follow You—even when I cannot see where the road leads.

🔥 You don’t have to know the whole path when you know the One who is leading you.
