You Were Never Meant to Carry This Alone

Some days it feels like everywhere you look, something is broken.

The world is loud and heavy. People you love are hurting—or running. And sometimes your own heart feels like it’s being held together with duct tape and whispered prayers.

You love Jesus, but you’re tired.

You’re trying to keep standing, keep believing, keep praying…and it feels like the hits just keep coming.

If that’s you, I want you to hear this:

You are not crazy, and you are not alone.

Scripture never pretends the world is fine.

It tells the truth: creation is groaning, people are wandering, and even God’s own children walk through wildernesses, valleys, and storms.

But Scripture tells us another truth just as clearly:

You were never meant to carry all of this by yourself.

Jesus doesn’t say, “Get it together and then come to Me.”

He says:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

That isn’t a suggestion for the “really spiritual” people.

It’s an invitation for the worn-out ones.

The ones barely keeping it together.

The ones whose prayers sometimes sound more like tears than words.

You and I were never designed to white-knuckle our way through life, pretending we’re fine while we’re bleeding inside.

Sometimes the wilderness season is real.

God does lead His people into wilderness seasons—places of stripping and dependence, where old idols die and trust grows deep roots.

But even there, you haven’t been abandoned.

The wilderness is a season, not your permanent address.

And notice what God does even in the wilderness:

He walks with His people.

He provides for His people.

He speaks to His people.

And He gives His people each other.

Over and over throughout Scripture, God doesn’t just hand someone a private miracle. He places them in a body. A family. A church. A “one another” people.

“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

That means there will be weights you literally cannot carry alone.

And you’re not supposed to.

Isolation whispers:

“You’re a burden.”

“Don’t bother anyone.”

“Keep this to yourself.”

But Jesus tells us something different:

Bring it to Me.

And sometimes He helps carry our burdens through the hands, prayers, and shoulders of His people.

Maybe you’re standing in the gap for someone else right now.

A child who has wandered.

A spouse.

A struggling marriage.

A sibling.

A friend battling addiction, depression, fear, or hopelessness.

Maybe there’s someone you love who desperately needs Jesus, and you’ve prayed their name so many times you don’t even know what else to say.

Or maybe you’re the one stumbling through the dark, wondering if God still sees you at all.

Hagar knew something about wilderness places.

And right there in hers, she encountered God and called Him:

El Roi — “The God who sees me.” — Genesis 16:13

Same God.

Same eyes.

Same faithful heart.

He sees the one you love.

And friend, He sees you too.

Part of why this little corner of the internet exists is because I don’t want people carrying these things in silence.

I can’t fix everything.

I wish I could.

But I can pray.

I can stand with you.

I can agree with you in prayer for your prodigal, your marriage, your health, your family, your grief, your battle—or whatever has your heart heavy today.

I can whisper your name, and the name of the person you love, before the One who holds all of this.

🙏 If you would like prayer, you can submit a confidential prayer request here:

Share as much or as little as you’re comfortable sharing.

There is also an option on the form to provide a mailing address or email address for yourself or the person you’re requesting prayer for if you would like them to receive a prayer card or personal word of encouragement.

Your information will never be sold or shared. It will only be used for prayer and the encouragement you’ve requested.

Because sometimes we need more than someone saying, “I’ll pray for you.”

Sometimes we need to know someone actually did.

So send the request.

Write the name.

Lay down the burden.

And then let somebody else help you carry it to Jesus.

Broken world.Broken people.But a Savior who sees.

You are seen.

You are loved.

You are being prayed for.

And you are not carrying this alone. 🔥
